There are many technologies emerge around the world day-by-day to simplify our regular activities. For example, Mobile phones and automobile field. The main goal and objective in every industry are making their products as smarter as possible in order to compete in their field and also get a huge market around the customers. That is how the technologies Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been introduced by many car companies in recent years as an additional feature.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are a built-in infotainment system that allows your smartphone to connect to your car. This technology helps to select music, get directions, make phone calls, send and receive messages by using voice commands instead of your hands. This technology created by the car manufactures to make their car smarter and which exists since 2014, but now most of the car manufacturers integrate this technology for all of their new models.

What do we need to access this technology?

To access this technology, you need an iPhone (5 or above) for Apple CarPlay and an Android device (5.0 lollipop or higher) for Android Auto.

How to use this technology?

For Apple CarPlay, Some cars have wired connection between car and iPhone, and some have the provision for wireless connection. Once your phone is connected, the car's multimedia screen will show the maps, music, messages, and phone, etc., like in your phone's home screen. Those icons cannot be removed. But we can add a few apps like Spotify and Pandora.

For Android Auto, it takes two more steps to connect the device with the car. First, we need to download the app, then sync our phone with the car. Those steps are usually easier to proceed.

If any car owners want CarPlay or Android Auto feature without buying the new car can get this technology by using aftermarket solutions provided by some of the car manufacturers.

Conclusion

Other than the home screen, both platforms have been created to achieve the same goal in different ways. Some people like to use Apple's platform and some people like Android's platform. So it's all about user's convenience and perception for choosing between Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
